JULIA WEISBERG-CORTÉS BIO

Raised by her grandmother in San Francisco’s Mission District, Julia Weisberg Cortés grew up surrounded by stories, stories she continues to excavate as a now professional storyteller. Inspired by the strength and resilience of the Mexican American women in her family, she creates films that explore identity, love, and hope in worlds shaped by struggle. As the first woman in her family to pursue higher education and the first to follow a creative dream, Julia has become an award-winning writer and director across television and film. She remains committed to telling stories and writing from the heart.
