Rowan Wheeler is an Emmy award-winning producer and screenwriter. Most recently, she was staffed as a Co-Producer on RIO IN LOVE, a half-hour comedy for Amazon. Before that, she wrote on WHILE YOU WERE BREEDING, Kristin Newman’s comedy based on her memoir for Freeform, OBLITERATED, an hour-long action comedy for Netflix, HARLEM on Amazon, and BIRDGIRL on Adult Swim. She just wrote and directed her first short film, JOURNEEZ, starring Liana Liberato, which she will be entering into the festival circuit. The script recently won the Cannes International Screenplay Awards by CINEVERSE.
Her half-hour dark comedy with showrunner Scott King, MURDER EVER AFTER was sold to Showtime in 2020, Peacock in 2021, and is currently in talks to be developed at another major streamer. Previously, she had an hour-long drama in development with The Gist Of It Productions, Merman, and 20th Television, and two half-hour projects in development in the UK with Zeppotron Productions: 3D PETE and SOCIO-PAM.
Before focusing on writing, Rowan was a producer and director. In 2019, Rowan served as Showrunner/Executive Producer on Funny or Die’s acclaimed short-form series UNDER A ROCK WITH TIG NOTARO and produced the Chris Evans and Mariah Carey episodes of BILLY ON THE STREET.
