Humanitas is proud to be a Community Partner of NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) as they present the 2022 NFMLA InFocus: Latinx & Hispanic Cinema Festival. The Festival will run virtually on Friday, September 23rd and in-person at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood on Saturday, September 24th. The Festival is co-presented by The MBS Group and includes screenings, filmmaker Q&A sessions, industry development programs and educational panels, including a panel centering around POV’s newest film The Last Out by Oscar® nominated Sami Khan and Tribeca Film Festival Special Jury Mention Winner Michael Gassert and a Film Festival programmers panel featuring Claudia Puig of the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Paul Sloop of the Cleveland International Film Festival and Céline Roustan of SXSW and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

The Festival features independent films from emerging talent that highlight a range of genres, storytelling styles and narratives from filmmakers and stories hailing from Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Cuba, Honduras, Jamaica, Colombia, Venezuela and the United States. The Festival hosts two world premieres and one North American premiere.
