While the act of writing can often be a solitary one, working in a writers room is anything but. This informational conversation focuses on the roles of Writers PAs, Writers’ Assistants, and Script Coordinators, how they contribute to a well-functioning writers room, how to best prepare for one of these roles, and more.

Scout Comm

Scout Comm is a non-binary writer from Pittsburgh with eight years of experience creating and shaping compelling stories. Scout currently works as the Script Coordinator on the new Netflix animated comedy, Long Story Short, from the creative team behind Bojack Horseman. Prior to that, Scout was the Script Coordinator on The L Word: Generation Q, co-writing the series finale alongside showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan. Scout is also a proud graduate of Emerson College and The Writers Guild Foundation Support Staff Training Program — an eight-week boot camp covering the duties of Writers Assistant and Script Coordinator. Their written work has been featured in several competitions and festivals, including the Blue Cat Screenwriting Competition and Ivy Film Festival. Autumn Joy Jimerson

Autumn Joy Jimerson is a drama and dramedy writer drawn to stories rooted in the messy dynamics of family—by birth, by happenstance, and by choice—and how those dynamics ripple through our personal and professional lives. A former Licensed Family Therapist, she brings years of listening in diverse clinical settings—from USC’s Student Counseling Center to Loma Linda Behavioral Medicine Center—deepening her instinct for layered, character-driven storytelling that delves into the quiet complexity of human connection. Her credits include Story Editor on Forever (Netflix), Staff Writer on Swagger (Apple TV), Writers’ Assistant on Shrinking (Apple TV), and Co-Writer/Showrunner’s Assistant on Queen Sugar (OWN). She holds an M.A. in Behavioral Sciences from Loma Linda University and a B.A. in TV & Film Production from Howard University.

Lynn Maleh

Called "up-and-coming" by the Los Angeles Times, Lynn Maleh is an Arab-American TV writer and stand-up comedian whose last name means salty, which she is. She’s previously written for Universal Basic Guys on FOX, Act Your Age on Netflix, The Onion, Reductress, and McSweeney’s. She's performed on Netflix Is A Joke Fest, New York Comedy Festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, and a few times in Brad Pitt’s old backyard. She co-created and co-produces Hilarious Habibis, a nationally-touring stand-up showcase, featuring Arab, Middle Eastern, and North African comics.
