HUMANITAS Winner Bill Wrubel Lands Pilot Production from CBS
In his first sale since moving to Warner Bros TV with an overall deal at the end of last season, former Modern Family executive producer Bill Wrubel has landed a pilot production commitment at CBS for a multi-camera comedy project. Titled The Good Life, it centers on a family man who struggles with the fact that everyone around him is pursuing their dreams and enjoying life more than he is — but who ultimately realizes he has everything he’s ever wanted. He does that through what I hear is a journey in the vein of It’s A Wonderful Life. WBTV is producing, with Wrubel writing and executive producing through his production company, Here Comes Scrappy.
Wrubel spent the past five seasons on the ABC/20th TV hit Modern Family, which he joined after the pilot as a co-executive producer. He served as an executive producer for the past three seasons and shared in all five of the series best comedy Emmys. Wrubel, repped by CAA and attorney Ken Richman, previously worked on the received series Ugly Betty and Sports Night at ABC and NBC’s Will & Grace.
