HUMANITAS Winner Paul Haggis on the Art of Screenwriting

haggis-mainScreenwriter Paul Haggis (“Crash,” "Million Dollar Baby," "Casino Royale") has been interviewed as part of the Academy Originals series. Haggis discusses his approach to the creative writing process.

Paul Haggis is is a Canadian screenwriter, producer, and director. Haggis in 2006, became the first screenwriter to write two Best Film Oscar winners back-to-back - Million Dollar Baby (2004) directed by Clint Eastwood, and Crash (2004) which he himself directed.

Haggis has been interviewed in a feature this week. The interview is available on YouTube.

In the feature, Haggis discusses his creative process and he explains what creativity means to him. He also talks about overcoming writers block, and how he fictionalizes the moments in life he finds haunting.
