Holly Hunter Cast as Lead in HUMANITAS Prize Trustee Alan Ball's new HBO Drama
Oscar winner Holly Hunter will head up a multi-racial family in HBO’s upcoming untitled Alan Ball drama, Variety has confirmed.
Hunter will play Audrey Black, the therapist-turned-lawyer wife to as yet uncast philosophy professor Greg, and matriarch of the Black-Bishop family. Audrey and Greg decided to build a family by adopting children from Vietnam, Somalia, and Colombia before having their own child in their forties.
Once a therapist in private practice, Audrey now reluctantly uses her skills as a psychologist in the corporate world, balancing her more progressive personal philosophy with the need to make money. Yet the “smart, caring” Audrey feels adrift now that her children have grown, and the outwardly idyllic Black-Bishop clan contains deep fractures that begin to show, including a child who is beginning to see things that might not be there, and a husband suffering from depression.
The drama was ordered straight to series at the premium cable network back in July, the first fruits of Ball’s two-year overall deal extension. Creator Ball will serve as executive producer alongside Peter Macdissi for Your Face Goes Here.
