Doug Atchison, winner of the Independent Feature Film Category at the 44th Annual
HUMANITAS Prize accepting his award from Michelle Satter, Founding Director of Sundance’s Feature Film Program.

The Sundance Institute has worked closely with HUMANITAS over many years to recognize the original cinematic storytelling of independent filmmakers. Their dedication to fostering future generations has amplified the voices of many ground-breaking filmmakers supported by the Institute’s programs including Ryan Coogler, Dee Rees, Benh Zeitlin, and Gina Prince-Bythewood, helping to ensure that their visions are seen and heard. We are excited to continue this partnership and see it evolve to other Festivals in ways that can increasingly inspire unique, character-driven stories that express our deepest humanity.
